Queens Park Rangers are reportedly keen to bring Schelotto to the Championship and Brighton and Hove Albion could let him go.
It seems that Ezequiel Schelotto’s mooted move to Queens Park Rangers could be on.
Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier in January that QPR were keen to sign the out-of-favour Brighton and Hove Albion right-back, who has not made a Premier League appearance this season since former Valencia defender Martin Montoya arrived at The Amex.
Former Inter Milan ace Schelotto, who joined the Seagulls for £2.5 million in 2017 (Goal), was set to be offered a return to Italy by SPAL, however, meaning he had a decision to make.
But, according to the Sun (21 January, page 63), the 29-year-old is open to dropping down to the Championship, which is good news for Steve McClaren’s Rangers.
Schelotto is out of contract at the end of the season and is understood to be hopeful of joining a club that would offer him regular game time. The former Sporting Lisbon man would not be guaranteed a place in QPR’s starting XI, however, given that McClaren can also call upon the experienced Angel Rangel.
The Sun adds that Brighton will move for the highly-rated Chelsea full-back Reece James, who is currently on loan at Wigan, if Schelotto departs.
