Brentford are closing in on the signing of Sergi Canos and could also add Wigan Athletic’s Max Power to their midfield this month.

Brentford’s rejuvenation of their midfield looks set to continue with the Daily Mail reporting that they are locked in a tussle with Ipswich Town over the signature of Wigan Athletic’s Max Power.

The Bees have endured something of a turbulent January with top scorer and talisman Scott Hogan relentlessly linked with the exit.

However, with Sky Sports reporting that the former Rochdale goal machine is finally edging closer to a big money move to West Ham United, Brentford boss Dean Smith will have plenty of funds to play with in the final week of the transfer window.

And improving their midfield options appears to be at the top of his list of priorities.

West London Sport reports that the money from Hogan’s sale will be used to re-sign Norwich City play-maker Sergi Canos, who enjoyed an excellent 2015/16 season on loan at Griffin Park.

And the Daily Mail adds that another £1.5 million will be put aside to fund the signing of Wigan’s 23-year-old dynamo Power although Ipswich Town have reportedly offered superior personal terms.

The appropriately named midfielder has been one of the most consistent performers in a relegation-threatened Latics side, although Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich are likely to put their all into securing his signature, with the Daily Mail reporting that Leicester are ready to sell Tom Lawrence, the goal-scoring play-maker who has starred on loan at Portman Road.
