Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth need a quality Premier League goalkeeper and they reportedly see Burnley’s Nick Pope as cheaper than Stoke’s Jack Butland.

Bournemouth are hoping to solve their goalkeeping woes by signing Burnley stopper Nick Pope in a £15 million summer deal, according to the Mail.
The Cherries enjoyed another impressive Premier League campaign in 2018/19 but their lack of quality between the sticks threatened to undermine their brilliance at the other end of the pitch with Callum Wilson, Josh King and Ryan Fraser running riot.
Asmir Begovic made more mistakes leading directly to goals (5) than any other top flight player apart from David de Gea last season while Artur Boruc, at 39, is hardly a long-term option.
As a result, youngster Mark Travers started the club’s last two Premier League fixtures with Eddie Howe looking to shake up his goalkeeping department. And while Travers impressed, particularly in a 1-0 win against Tottenham (below), the Mail claims that Pope could be on his way to Bournemouth in the coming weeks.

Howe is keen on Stoke City’s Jack Butland but Pope, another England international, is seen as a more affordable option with Bournemouth set to test the water with a £15 million bid.
Pope was exceptional for Burnley in 2017/18 but he fell behind Tom Heaton in the pecking order again after picking up an injury at the start of last season.
