Some Premier League clubs reportedly wanted Besiktas’s Croatia World Cup star Vida but Bournemouth are now allegedly in pole position.

Few would have expected that Domagoj Vida would still be a Besiktas player by September. After all, the Croatian World Cup finalist was linked with a big-money move to the Premier League on an almost daily basis during the final month or so of the summer transfer window.
West Ham, Everton and Arsenal were heavily tipped to sign Vida while Liverpool reportedly made a bid of £20 million, as reported by Sabah.
But just because the window is now shut does not mean the speculation has stopped. According to Fanatik, another Premier League club, this time AFC Bournemouth, are already preparing an offer to sign the former Dinamo Kiev man in January.
Fanatik adds that the Cherries failed with a £14 million offer over the summer, with Besiktas wanting far more for a man they signed on a free as recently as December.

And despite an excellent start to the season, Eddie Howe’s side sit sixth after four matches, it seems that Bournemouth are already planning to strengthen their squad in the New Year.
Vida is 29 now and has never played in one of Europe’s major leagues. And, with his reputation at a career-high after his terrific performances at the World Cup, the report claims that he is keen to try his hand in England.
