Ikechi Anya hasn’t played a Championship game for Derby County this season but will he join Garry Monk’s Birmingham?

Derby County fans could be forgiven for forgetting all about Ikechi Anya.
The Scotland international hasn’t exactly been a key player at Pride Park since Frank Lampard took over in the summer after all. In fact, Anya has been left out of the matchday squad for every single one of Derby’s 26 Championship games this season.
And, according to the Derby Telegraph, the former Watford man could be offered a much-needed escape route with Birmingham City keen to bring him to St Andrew’s in the January transfer window.
Blues boss Garry Monk has also confirmed that he is aware of Anya, who has not lived up to expectations since moving to Derby for £4 million in 2016 (BBC).
“I know the player,” said Monk, whose Birmingham side are just four points behind Derby in eighth.
“When you are looking at the list we are looking at it is a difficult one. Every player on the list is of interest.”

It would certainly make sense for Derby to listen to offers for Anya but whether they should be willing to let him join a potential play-off rival is up for debate.
The 31-year-old may be short of game-time but he could be a solid addition for Birmingham given his ability to play on either flank and at full-back if required.
