Mark Bunn has only made 10 Championship appearances for Aston Villa and is out of contract at the end of 2017/18.

In two years at Aston Villa, it’s fair to say Mark Bunn has not been a regular starter.
The veteran goalkeeper was Villa’s number one for a matter of weeks during the 2016/17 season, between Pierluigi Gollini’s dropping and the January signing of Sam Johnstone.
And with Johnstone extending his loan spell from Manchester United into a second season, Bunn has not featured at all in the Championship. This is nothing new for the 33-year-old, however – he has spent much of his professional career as a steady and reliable back-up.

But with Bunn’s contract due to expire at the end of the season, it seems that his time as an Aston Villa player is coming to an end.
There are high hopes for the 20-year-old Grimsby-born Montenegrin Mateja Sarkic. He spent the first-half of the season on loan at third tier leaders Wigan Athletic but did not make a single league appearance and returned to Bodymoor Heath in January.

Viktor Johansson is also turning plenty of heads in the Midlands and the Swede, who joined from Hammarby four years ago, has been excellent for the club’s U23s over the last 12 months or so.
“Viktor’s very highly-rated by all the goalkeeping staff. They all think he’s going to be a special goalkeeper. I think the kid’s got a hell of a chance,” Gordon Cowans once told Villa’s audioboom channel.

Because the Birmingham Mail report that manager Steve Bruce is likely to let Bunn leave in the summer as he has too young, highly-rated shot-stoppers ready and waiting to step up to the first-team squad.
