Robert Huth’s release by Leicester City has interested Championship giants Aston Villa, who are reporedly long-time admirers.

It seemed that Aston Villa had identified a little-known Ligue 2 defender as a shock replacement for the departed skipper John Terry.
As reported by Sporting Life, Aston Villa were leading the chase to sign Samuel Yohou, who will leave Paris FC upon the expiry of his contract. The fact that Yohou would be succeeding Terry in Aston Villa’s backline suggests that the 26-year-old is far better than his Ligue 2 background would suggest.
But in latest reports provided by the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has identified his ideal replacement for the influential 37-year-old former England captain. It is understood that Villa have other targets than the Ivorian Yohou – and one of those is Robert Huth.

Villa are reported to be a long-time admirer of the charismatic German, who has left Leicester City on a free.
Huth, a 33-year-old who has won Premier League titles with Leicester and Chelsea, boasts a wealth of experience and would on paper be a far more appropriate replacement for Terry this summer.

And considering that Villa are in a dire financial position, the fact that Huth is available for absolutely nothing makes him even more attractive.
In truth, it is difficult to see many better options out there than Huth. Bruce might just have made a great call.
