Aston Villa have been trying to tie down Indiana Vassilev since 2016 and the USA winger has finally agreed a deal with the Championship side.

Aston Villa have seemingly added another talented young prospect to their impressive academy.
Vassilev, a 17-year-old left-footed winger blessed with bags of skill and a pinpoint cross, had been on trial with the Championship giants and has made six appearances for the U18s this season. He last featured in a 2-1 win against Fulham a week-and-a-half ago.

And it appears that the American teenager, born to Bulgarian parents, has done enough to impress in claret and blue with the club now officially registering him as a Villa player.
It remains to be seen whether Vassilev, who earned rave reviews at the U17 World Cup last year as the USA were beaten by eventual winners England in the quarter finals, can follow the likes of Andre Green into Steve Bruce’s first-team.
But while the deal will probably not elicit much of a response among Villa fans fearing a late season collapse on the back of successive defeats against QPR and Bolton, it seems that the signing of Vassilev has been two years in the making.

According to The Sun on 6th November 2016, Aston Villa had scouted Vassilev during a youth tournament in France and were very keen to bring him to England. The then 15-year-old had spent a trial at Villa but was also at the centre of Premier League interest.
At long last, however, and via another impressive trial, Vassilev is finally an official Aston Villa player.
