Bristol City look set to sell Joe Bryan at last, with Championship duo Aston Villa and Middlesbrough reportedly competing for the left-back’s signature.

There have been a whole host of clubs linked with Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan this summer but, with just days remaining, it seems that we are down to a two-horse race.
The Bristol Post reported on Monday that Championship duo Aston Villa and Middlesbrough had agreed fees for the highly-rated 24-year-old. It seems that the Robins are ready to sell Bryan after admitting defeat in their attempts to extend his contract beyond next summer.
It remains to be seen who wins the race for arguably the best left-back in the Championship, although Leeds United new boy Barry Douglas might have something to say about that.
Sky Sports (live blog, 6.37pm) have reported that Aston Villa have discussed personal terms with Bryan after seeing their bid, understood to be worth £6 million, accepted by Lee Johnson’s Bristol City.

So far, there is nothing to suggest that Middlesbrough have gone as far as discussing terms with Bryan. Therefore, it seems that Villa are slightly in front as things stand.
Bryan scored three goals and set up seven more in all competitions last season and should be an upgrade on Neil Taylor in Steve Bruce’s squad.
