Aston Villa’s Andre Green has scored five goals in his last nine games for League One leaders Pompey and a return to the Championship is on the cards.

Andre Green showed Aston Villa fans what they are missing on FA Cup third round weekend.
The fleet-footed winger produced the most eye-catching moment of his loan spell at Portsmouth on Saturday, scoring a stoppage-time winner as Kenny Jackett’s side stunned Championship high-flyers Norwich City at Carrow Road.
But, according to the Sun, that last-gasp goal could prove to be bittersweet for Pompey.
Because it is understood that Dean Smith is considering re-calling Green during the January transfer window. The former Brentford boss believes the England U19 international could help Aston Villa seal a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old, who has scored five goals in his last nine games for Portsmouth, is blessed with explosive speed and an ever-improving end-product, leading Smith to believe that he is exactly the sort of creative talent Villa are missing.

Understandably, League One leaders Pompey would be loathe to lose Green midway through the season, particularly after seeing Ben Thompson go back to Millwall in similar circumstances earlier this month.
Green’s potential return would offer competition for the likes of Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi on the flanks at Aston Villa.
