Sheffield United reportedly want Hogan from Championship rivals Aston Villa – but their hopes rest on the future of Southampton target Davis

Chris Wilder has not exactly been subtle about his desire to bring Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan to Sheffield United.
But latest reports from the Star have put Sheffield United’s chances of landing the Republic of Ireland international in doubt. It is understood that their hopes rest on whether Keinan Davis stays at Villa this summer or not.
The 20-year-old forward impressed during his breakthrough season at Villa Park despite managing to score just twice in 28 Championship games. And it is understood that Southampton, who added another young Englishman to their squad this week in Angus Gunn, are also keen to land Davis.

And it is understood that Bruce will make an attempt to keep hold of Hogan should Davis leave.
The Geordie gaffer is fully aware of Aston Villa’s dire financial situation but that does not mean he should be willing to see his squad completely torn apart.
Villa need a striker next season and, with Jonathan Kodjia tipped to leave and Lewis Grabban already gone, he cannot afford to lose both Davis and Hogan, too.
