Orjan Nyland could reportedly be Sam Johnstone’s successor at Aston Villa with the goalkeeper set to arrive from Ingolstadt.

Aston Villa have already signed one new goalkeeper this week, bringing in Andre Moreira from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid on a season long loan.
And the Daily Star reckons the 23-year-old Spaniard could be joined in the Midlands by a Norwegian international. It is reported that Aston Villa are on the verge of landing Orjan Nyland, who is playing for German second tier club Ingolstadt.
The 27-year-old has made 27 appearances for his country since making his debut back in 2013 and has represented Ingoldstadt since a move from Molde three years ago.
Nyland also made 17 Bundesliga starts in two seasons for Die Schanzer before they were relegated at the end of the 2016/17 season.
As reported by the Star, Bruce believes that Moreira is one for the future, meaning Nyland could potentially have been identified as Aston Villa’s new number one.

Though he will have a tough act to follow. Sam Johnstone was a regular between the sticks over the last year and a half, establishing himself as arguably the best goalkeeper in the Championship.
But Johnstone’s loan spell from Manchester United ended in May and he will begin next season in the colours of Villa’s Midland rivals West Brom.
