Lewis Grabban has made a big impact in the Championship promotion race with Aston Villa since joining from Premier League Bournemouth.

Aston Villa have secured their place in the end of season play-offs, meaning Steve Bruce’s side are just three games from the Premier League. Unless, of course, they can pull off a major shock and overtake Cardiff City in the second automatic promotion position.

Either way, there is a decent chance that Villa will be a top tier side again next season. And, if that happens, expect Villa to make Lewis Grabban one of their top summer transfer targets.

The 30-year-old striker, a pure Championship specialist, has been in brilliant from since he arrived on loan from Bournemouth in January. Villa were lacking a prolific goal-scorer due to Jonathan Kodjia struggling with injuries but Grabban has filled the void, netting seven times in nine starts.

There had been suggestions that Villa would try to sign Grabban permanently this summer if they were promoted.

And, perhaps on the back of a run of three goals in two games, the Birmingham Mail now reports that the Midland giants are now ‘certain’ to consider an approach for him, as well as fellow loanees Sam Johnstone and Robert Snodgrass, if the season has a fairy-tale ending.

A couple of weeks ago, Villa were understood to be mulling over Grabban’s future. Now they seem to be edging towards making a move for him on a permanent deal this summer.

It is unsure how much the former Norwich striker would cost, given that Bournemouth paid £7 million for him in January 2016, according to the BBC.
