Arsenal have joined the race to sign Sporting Lisbon captain Bruno Fernandes this summer, according to O Jogo.

The Gunners need to replace the Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey this summer and Fernandes is the latest name in the frame, alongside Kerem Demirbay, Christopher Nkunku, Joan Jordan and co – and with good reason.

The Sporting skipper has had a remarkable campaign, scoring 28 goals in all competitions while providing a further 15 assists. He also netted 16 and set up 20 in the 2017/18 season, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most effective attacking midfielders.

With the Primeira Liga side under pressure to sell, don’t be surprised to see Fernandes on the move this summer. O Jogo reports that he is a target for Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, as well as Unai Emery’s Arsenal.

Sporting are willing to accept a cut-price fee of just £30 million, well short of his £85 million release clause.

But with funds tight at The Emirates, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal need to look at cheaper alternatives instead with the likes of Demirbay and Jordan likely to be more affordable.
