Premier League powerhouses Arsenal are reportedly battling Ajax of the Eredivisie for the latest Brazilian wonder-kid.

Arsenal are interested in signing the exciting Sao Paulo attacker Antony this summer, according to claims made by Goal.

A 19-year-old winger who can play on the left or the right flank, Antony Matheus dos Santos is the latest fresh-faced wonder-kid to emerge from the South American nation even though he has made just three appearances in the Brazilian top flight so far.

The teenager has shone at youth level however. He was named the Player of the Tournament as Sao Paulo won the J League Challenge competition in 2018.

With a contract until 2023, Sao Paulo are under no pressure to sell and Goal believes they will demand at least £25 million for a player who appears to be turning heads across Europe.

Arsenal are facing competition from Eredivisie giants Ajax, who would have to break their transfer record to take Antony to Amsterdam.

Antony is not the first young Brazilian linked with a move to Arsenal. Goal reported last month that Gabriel Martinelli, a forward who plays for Ituano, is also under consideration with the Gunners’ chiefs giving the green light for a £4.5 million bid.
