Could Argentine international Walter Kannemann solve the defensive problems that continue to haunt Unai Emery’s Premier League underachievers Arsenal?

Arsenal have made an official £10.5 million bid to sign Argentina international Walter Kannemann, according to Calciomercato, but there is no guarantee that he is on his way to The Emirates with Inter Milan and Sampdoria allegedly interested.
The Gunners are crying out for a top quality centre-back after their dreadful defensive record once again cost them a place in the Premier League’s top four and it seems that the 28-year-old Gremio enforcer has emerged as one of their key targets.
Kannemann, who was born in Uruguay but has played five times for Argentina since making his international debut in September, has now been the subject of a £10.5 million bid from North London.
It is claimed that Arsenal have stepped up their interest in the last few weeks, perhaps a direct result of Shkodran Mustafi’s horrific run of form.

Arsenal are expecting a response in the next few days with Gremio now giving consideration to the proposal. It remains to be seen whether Serie A duo Inter or Sampdoria will match the Gunners’ bid.
According to the Mail, Eric Bailly, Samuel Umtiti and Djene Dakonam are also on Arsenal’s radar.
