Noussair Mazraoui has shone in the Eredivisie and the Champions League but will he join Arsenal or Liverpool?
It seems only a matter of time before another Ajax star catapults himself onto the radar of the Premier League giants with Arsenal and Liverpool both in need of additions in defence.
Like Matthijs de Ligt, Donny Van der Beek and co, Noussair Mazraoui is a product of Ajax’s famed academy system and forced his way into Erik Ten Hag’s first-team this season after two impressive years with the reserves.
The Dutch-born defender, who plays for Morocco at international level, has played 43 games in all competitions, scoring four goals and setting up four more for an Ajax side top of the Eredivisie.
He has also shone in their shock run to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring against both Bayern Munich and Benfica in the group stages.
And with Arsenal and Liverpool lacking depth at right-back thanks to the injuries suffered by both Hector Bellerin and Joe Gomez in recent months, Mazraoui must be on their radar. The top-four rivals have been linked with a number of other Ajax players of late and, if they are really sending scouts to the Amsterdam Arena (The Mirror), it seems very unlikely that Mazraoui will not have caught their eye.
Adventurous and attack-minded, he is the epitome of the modern-day full-back and would have no problems fitting in under Unai Emery and Jurgen Klopp.
