West Ham United are reportedly interested in bringing La Liga centre-back Guillermo Maripan to the Premier League during the summer transfer window.

Deportivo Alaves are unlikely to field Guillermo Maripan in any of their two remaining La Liga fixtures as they don’t want to jeopardise his potential move to West Ham United, as reported by Marca.

The Chilean international has emerged as a top target for The Hammers, Football London reporting at the end of the April that they had firmed up their interest in the commanding centre-half.

The report adds that Maripan, who is 25 years of age, ticks plenty of boxes for a club who are looking to sign promising younger players in an attempt to move away from their recent ‘retirement home’ image.

And while Alaves would be hoping to keep hold of their star defender in an ideal world, one of La Liga’s smaller sides really cannot afford to miss out on a substantial cash windfall.

Football London suggests that West Ham want to pay around £10 million for Maripan, though Alaves have made it clear that he has a £22 million release clause in his contract.

And, according to Marca, Maripan is unlikely to feature in the final two games of the current campaign as Alaves are wary about exacerbating his ongoing ankle injury, fearing this will scupper their chances of selling him to West Ham for an eight-figure transfer fee.
