Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion paid £6million for Chinese striker Zhang but he has failed to score on loan at ADO Den Haag.

West Bromwich Albion’s forgotten man Zhang Yuning is set to bring an end to his miserable loan spell at ADO Den Haag, according to VIPC.

The Baggies paid a hefty £6 million to sign the China international from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer of 2017 (Express and Star) but it looks unlikely as things stand that he will ever make an appearance for the Championship club.

Zhang failed to make an appearance during a loan spell at Werder Bremen last season and a return to Holland with ADO has not gone to plan either.

The 22-year-old has played just 117 minutes of football spread across six substitute appearances and failed to find the net.

According to VIPC, Zhang looks to have played his final game for ADO. It is understood that he has travelled to China and will sign on loan for Beijing Guoan ahead of the new Super League season, which will begin in March.

Right now, West Brom will be lucky to see any return on their £6 million investment. The Baggies are the most prolific side in the Championship so they are hardly in need of another striker.
