Premier League duo Newcastle United and Watford were both linked with Reims striker Remi Oudin after he scored 10 Ligue 1 goals last season.

Reims forward Remi Oudin has admitted to France Football that Newcastle United and Watford did not make an offer for him this summer despite reports that the Frenchman was a target for the Premier League duo.
After scoring ten times in 37 Ligue 1 games last season, speculation was rise that Oudin could be on his way across the Channel.
According to The Sun, Newcastle held talks with a striker who has been compared to former Manchester United and Arsenal hero Robin Van Persie for a tendency to produce something spectacular out of very little. Watford, meanwhile, apparently made a bid of £7 million which Reims, who wanted closer to £10 million, rejected out of hand.
But speaking after a proposed switch to Fiorentina collapsed in contentious fashion on deadline day, Oudin has made it clear that talks over a move to St James’ Park or Vicarage Road were a little overblown.

“There were no offers or anything. It was only the last day that it moved,” the 22-year-old said when asked whether Watford or Newcastle attempted to lure him to England.
Newcastle turned their attention to Joelinton instead and paid a club-record fee for a striker who was valued around £30 million higher than Oudin during the summer.
Watford, however, could perhaps have sealed all three points in their stirring performance against Arsenal on Sunday if they had a natural goalscorer like Oudin on the pitch.
