Queens Park Rangers released Nasser El-Khayati in 2017 and now he’s in the form of his life with ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie

Abdenasser El Khayati of QPR scores from the spot during the Football League Cup match between Queens Park Rangers and Swindon Town on August 10, 2016 in London, England.

After a brief turnaround, it seems that Queens Park Rangers are in trouble again. An insipid 1-0 home defeat against Norwich City last Saturday preceded a dismal 2-0 collapse away at League One Blackpool in the EFL Cup third round.

Suddenly, there is pressure on manager Steve McClaren once again.

And, to make matters worse for QPR fans, a man they let go is now in the form of his life.

Nasser El Khayati will be remembered at Loftus Road for making just four Championship starts before being released in the summer of 2017 when Ian Holloway decided he wasn’t part of his plans, according to West London Sport.

But QPR will be looking on enviously now as El Khayati continues to shine in Holland. The gifted number 10 is in the form of his life right now, having scored seven times in his last four games for ADO Den Haag.

In fact, the 29-year-old has scored all of ADO’s last seven Eredivisie games, including a remarkable four-goal haul in a 4-2 away win at Excelsior.

That is as many goals as QPR have scored in nine Championship matches in 2018/19. McClaren might be wishing that Holloway had decided to keep El Khayati around.
