Did Championship giants Leeds United make a big mistake with Billy Whitehouse? Premier League Cardiff City are reportedly in talks to sign him.

There were few questions asked when Leeds United released Billy Whitehouse after just one senior appearance at the end of the 2016/17 season. But, a year-and-a-half on, do the signs suggest that the West Yorkshire giants made a big mistake?
These days, Whitehouse is at eighth-tier Tadcaster Albion, hardly a sign that Leeds have let a potentially dazzling talent leave for absolutely nothing. But look a little closer and the 22-year-old’s qualities are clear for all to see.
The Middlesbrough-born attacker has produced a quite remarkable 19 assists to inspire Tadcaster’s promotion challenge. As a result, reports from Wales Online are suggesting that Whitehouse could be heading to the Premier League in the near future.
It is understood that Cardiff City are in negotiations to sign the one-time Doncaster youth, who has also scored nine goals in 2018/19. The fact that Cardiff’s manager is the former Leeds boss Neil Warnock threatens to only pour salt into the wounds.

Speaking in 2017, the then Leeds youth team coach Jason Blunt paid tribute to the exciting Whitehouse.
“It is not just about technically how good you are, it is about desire, attitude in and around the training ground, manners, the whole package and Billy has it,” Blunt told the Yorkshire Post.
And, should the youngster fulfil his potential in Cardiff colours, Leeds could end up ruing their decision to get rid.
