Rangers battered Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday night with Steven Gerrard’s side impressing again.

Borna Barisic of Rangers looks on prior to the Ladbrookes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on February 16, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers’ best left-back this season has arguably been Andy Halliday. And that speaks volumes about the recent form of error-prone Jon Flanagan and the oft-injured Borna Barisic.

The latter in particular has had a frustrating few months, missing a number of games in the Autumn with a calf injury and struggling to find his best form after returning to first-team action.

The Croatian international, a £2.2 million summer signing from NK Osijek (BBC), has still produced seven assists in his debut season in Scotland, and there is no doubt that he possesses one of the most dangerous left pegs in the entire division.

But there is a real sense right now that he is performing within himself; the 26-year-old not displaying the sort of confidence he was showing in his first few weeks at Ibrox.

His display in the 4-0 thrashing of Dundee on Wednesday night once again has many fans voicing their frustrations, even if he did rattle the bar with a brilliant, curling free-kick with about 20 minutes to go.

Another game has largely passed Barisic by. And, with the summer transfer window on the horizon, he must find form and fast.
