Ray Parlour comments on whether Arsenal should sign Leicester’s James Maddison

James Maddison has enjoyed a fine Premier League season for Leicester City but could he replace Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal?

Ray Parlour believes Leicester City play-maker James Maddison would be a good addition at Arsenal but has warned his former side that the young Englishman would not come cheap, while speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT (15 April, 9:00am).

The Gunners are facing up to the daunting task of replacing the influential Aaron Ramsey in the summer, with the Welshman having already agreed to join Serie A champions Juventus when his contract expires in July.

Maddison’s name has been mentioned increasingly often on the back of a fine debut season with Leicester. The gifted midfielder joined the Foxes from Norwich City for £20 million last year, as reported by the BBC, and he has since scored seven goals and provided six assists in the Premier League.

And former Arsenal ace Parlour believes Maddison has the talent to play for the Gunners, although whether the North London giants can afford him is another matter entirely.

“He’s a very good player (even though he) had a poor game on Friday (in Leicester’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle),” Parlour said.

“He’d be worth a lot of money. He’s worth at least double, he’s gone to £50 million now. He’s a top quality player.”

Maddison certainly shares Ramsey’s ability to score and create goals from a number ten position while he possesses the sort of raw talent that Emery loves to work with.
