Monaco winger Thomas Lemar is joining La Liga giants Atletico Madrid despite incessent links with the Premier League and Liverpool.

In the space of just two days, both Nabil Fekir and Thomas Lemar both look to have slipped out of Liverpool’s reach.
Liverpool were seemingly on the verge of landing Lyon’s 18-goal talisman Fekir in a £53 million deal with The Mail claiming that he had even been given the chance to choose a shirt number and conduct interviews with the club’s in-house media team.
But, in a dramatic twist, the £140,000-a-week deal collapsed after problems were discovered during Fekir’s medical, The Mail adds.

Though while supporters were obviously dismayed to miss out on one of the most feared attackers anywhere in Europe during the 2017/18 season, it seems Thomas Lemar’s impending move to Atletico Madrid hasn’t been met with the same furore.
But Liverpool fans don’t seem too bothered. There is a reason why Lemar’s price-tag dropped considerably, after all.

The 22-year-old contributed 14 goals and 17 assists as Monaco won Ligue 1 and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2016/17 but his tally dropped to three and 10 in a disappointing follow-up campaign.
And, as the Anfield faithful point out, there’s better value to be found elsewhere.
