Celtic have made a bid for Dundee defender Jack Hendry but there are doubts about whether they will return, giving Old Firm rivals Rangers a glimmer of hope.
With just a week to go in the January transfer window, interest in Dundee centre-back Jack Hendry is hotting up.
It is understood that Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and West Ham are keen on the classy, John Stones-style centre-back. Meanwhile, Ibrox giants Rangers and Celtic will also have scouts at Dens Park.
The Old Firm rivals have been linked with Hendry for a couple of weeks now but it seems Celtic are well ahead of Rangers in the race for his sought-after signature. The Mail reports that Celtic have already made a £500,000 bid.
There may be some hope still for Rangers, however, as it is understood the champions will refuse to meet the £1.5 million price-tag that Dundee have slapped on Hendry’s head.
And while money is tight at Rangers, they have found a way to get around paying big fees this month when landing the likes of Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings on loan deals with an option to buy. Perhaps they could try the same tactic with Hendry.
Although with four Premier League sides expressing their interest, offering greater wages, exposure and opportunities, and Celtic already putting money on the table, have Rangers left it too late?
