James Collins still doesn’t have a club after leaving Premier League outfit West Ham United – despite links with Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers.

It is pretty clear that Rangers are on the lookout for one more centre-back as Steven Gerrard aims to add the finishing touches to his squad.
So far, however, the likes of Jake Cooper, Curtis Tilt and Mark Beevers are nowhere to be seen at Ibrox. Which should perhaps tempt Rangers to look again at a player who was first linked back in May – and remains a free agent three months later.
According to the Scottish Sun, the Scottish Premiership giants wanted to sign the 34-year-old Welshman, who was discarded by West Ham after over a decade of loyal service at the end of the most recent Premier League season.
Now, some will argue that Collins is not the left-sided defender that Gerrard has been looking for. But the 51-time international could still be a solid signing, even if Rangers fans might have a few flashbacks of previous veteran signings such as Bruno Alves and Joey Barton.

Collins is a hugely experienced player and a leader on and off the pitch – which surely wouldn’t do any harm to promising youngsters Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic, Aiden Wilson and Ross McCrorie.
And with the former Aston Villa defender costing absolutely nothing, what can really go wrong?
