Martyn Waghorn produced another frustrating performance as Rangers lost to Celtic in the Scottish Cup but will Nottingham Forest come calling?

Pedro Caixinha has demonstrated already in his short spell in charge of Rangers that he is not afraid to make the big decisions.
Emerson Hyndman and Barrie McKay – fan favourites and two of the club’s most exciting creative talents – have already fallen on the wrong side of the manager, even being hooked at half time with their performances not up to scratch.
Therefore, when Caixinha claimed ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic that under-performing players would be dropped, as reported by the Daily Record, supporters might have hoped this would act as a wake-up call to one Martyn Waghorn.
However, the 27-year-old retained his place in the starting XI. And, after another frustrating performance characterised by poor decision making in the final third, he is still without a goal since Caixinha took over at the helm.
His work rate could not be questioned but, once again, his productivity in attack was badly lacking. In a rare Rangers chance with a few minutes to go, Waghorn ballooned a header wastefully over the bar and squandered any hopes of a late fightback.
This is not the first time Waghorn has failed to fire in recent weeks. And with Joe Dodoo starting to find his feet, you wonder how much longer he will keep his place in the starting XI.

The Daily Record claimed last month that Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest were considering a summer move for the former Sunderland youngster.
After all, Forest boss Mark Warburton managed to coax some impressive performances out of Waghorn during his two seasons at Ibrox and with the club crying out for reinforcements in the summer, the hard-working forward may appear a tempting proposition.

And, based on his semi-final display, Caixinha should seriously consider any offers that come Rangers’ way.
