Rangers have reportedly enquired about re-signing Ross McCormack with his Sunderland loan still not sealed.

You cannot blame Rangers for sticking their oar in on deadline day as the clock ticks down on Ross McCormack’s chances of securing a move away from Aston Villa.
His inability to agree a temporary deal at Sunderland, with The Echo reporting that both clubs are yet to come to an agreement over wages, means McCormack is still very much on the market with just a few hours to go until the transfer window shuts.

Therefore, unless cash-strapped Sunderland can come to an agreement, McCormack is facing up to the prospect of remaining at Villa, where he is completely out of favour following a falling out with manager Steve Bruce last season.
Therefore, with options drying up for a player who cost £12 million from Fulham just a year ago, via the BBC, he could be forgiven for being tempted by a return to where it all began.
Ross’s return
The Glasgow-born striker began his professional career in Rangers’ blue, making 14 appearances for the club before heading off to Motherwell in 2006. Since then, he has developed into one of the most lethal strikers in the English lower leagues, scoring at a prolific rate for Leeds United, Fulham and Cardiff City.

And while Rangers may have to stump up quite a considerable sum in wages, McCormack could be worth the risk. The 31-year-old’s reputation may have suffered in England but a return to Scotland would allow him a fresh start.
Furthermore, if McCormack rediscovered that golden touch, he could be the player Rangers need to improve on last season’s third place finish.
