Stoke City’s Championship midfielder Charlie Adam admitted that he was keen to return to Rangers in the summer transfer window.

Speaking to BT Sport in July, Charlie Adam was hardly subtle about his desire to return to Rangers before the transfer window slammed shut.
The former Scotland international started his professional career at Ibrox and played in the first team for six years before joining Blackpool in 2009. But with Adam out of favour at relegated Stoke City, the 32-year-old suggested that he would jump at the chance of returning to where it all began.
“There’s always an option – it’s Rangers,” Adam said. “You can never rule it out. To return to a club like this would be a wonderful option for me.”
According to The Telegraph, Rangers did indeed consider bringing Adam back to Glasgow. But, in the end, they decided to turn their attention towards alternative targets with Lassana Coulibaly and Ovie Ejaria eventually arriving.
And, in an odd twist of fate, Adam could now be in line to face off against Rangers – and his former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard.

According to The Courier, Adam is open to the idea of joining his boyhood club Dundee in a player-coach role after the sacking of Neil McCann on Tuesday afternoon. And his current Stoke boss Gary Rowett would not stand in his way.
And if Adam does get a job at Dens Park, he will no doubt be keen to prove a point to a Rangers side who turned him down.
