Scottish Premiership giants Rangers reportedly want to bring Davis back to Ibrox after six years with Southampton.

Rangers are certainly getting the old band back together. Kyle Lafferty and Allan McGregor were integral parts of the last Gers team who won the Scottish Premiership title in 2012 – and reports in Ireland suggest Steven Davis could join his former team-mates at Ibrox in the near future.
Davis has been heavily linked with an emotional return for some time, six years after leaving for Southampton when Rangers were demoted to the fourth tier.
And, according to the Belfast Telegraph, the Northern Ireland captain could potentially arrive on loan in January with Rangers likely to have the option to sign Davis on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign.

On paper, this makes perfect sense. At the age of 33, and with just six minutes of league football under his belt this season, Davis may not be the same energetic and tireless enforcer who inspired Rangers to three league titles.
His best days are behind him and, with Davis currently earning £60,000 a week, checking whether he is still capable of making a difference as a regular starter before signing him on a permanent basis surely reduces the chances of an expensive mistake.
Davis might not be as quick or tireless as he used to be but his experience, tactical nous and leadership skills could give Rangers that extra edge at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
