Eduardo Herrera struggled badly in the Scottish Premiership and it was no surprise when Rangers allowed him to leave Ibrox on loan.

It has been an excellent couple of weeks for a number of players loaned out by Rangers.
Joe Dodoo has started scoring for Blackpool at last, manager Terry McPhillips lauding his ‘phenomenal’ display in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Burton Albion, while the likes of Greg Docherty, Jak Alnwick and Jamie Barjonas have also been lauded recently for their displays south of the border.
It’s fair to say Eduardo Herrera, however, isn’t exactly thriving away from Ibrox.
The Mexican international scored just two goals in 24 games at Rangers last season, hardly repaying his £1.5 million price-tag (Daily Record).
And even a return to his homeland with Santos Laguna has not helped Herrera rediscover his form in front of goal. In fact, the last time he featured in a Liga MX outfit was all the way back in August, a 1-1 draw with Pedro Caixinha’s Cruz Azul.

At least Herrara was included in the match-day squad for the first time in three months at the weekend. The 30-year-old centre-forward featured in the 18 as Santos Laguna travelled to his former club, Pumas UNAM.
Herrera didn’t manage to get off the bench but at least Santos Laguna fans have been reminded that he does, in fact, exist. Though Rangers will need a lot more than the odd appearance in the match-day squad if they are to recoup much of their £1.5 million investment.
