Glasgow Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie has been linked with a move away from Ibrox, but Steven Gerrard has no intention of letting him leave.

Rangers have made a pulsating start to the January transfer window, with Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis arriving on loan, and Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara signing pre-contract deals with the Gers ahead of the summer.

But it appears that Steven Gerrard could potentially face a fight to keep some of his players. The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month that Ross McCrorie is being pursued by Swansea City.

The report stated Rangers have no intention of selling the youngster. And following his stunning Old Firm performance before the winter break, that is absolutely the right decision to take.

But perhaps the Gers’ task of keeping McCrorie has been made trickier thanks to the decision to sign Kamara from Dundee.

The Evening Telegraph reported last month that the Swans were also keen on signing the 23-year-old having previously looked at the Finland international during the summer.

With Kamara no longer available to the Championship side, it certainly appears to be entirely possible that they could be even more determined to sign McCrorie to make up for missing out on his future teammate.

Of course, Swansea pushing harder for McCrorie does not necessarily make it anymore likely that Rangers would sanction what would be an incredibly unpopular transfer.

But perhaps the Gers have ensured that January will now feel like a longer month as Swansea may want to step up their efforts to sign the 20-year-old.
