Allan McGregor was sent off in Rangers’ 1-0 Scottish Premiership win against Hibernian; no wonder Steven Gerrard is eyeing Kilmarnock’s Watford loanee.

Allan McGregor had it coming.
The Rangers goalkeeper has been at the centre of a number of unseemly flashpoints this season and he was found out in rather embarrassing fashion on Sunday. McGregor was sent off for a quite ridiculous kick out at Hibernian striker Marc McNulty during The Gers’ 1-0 win at Ibrox.
If the initial act of brainless aggression wasn’t questionable enough, his decision to roll around on the floor and feign injury was arguably even worse. A 36-year-old really should know better.
No surprise Steven Gerrard hit out at the lack of discipline from his side after the game.
“It’s another crazy moment that’s difficult to defend,” McGregor’s baffled manager told Sky Sports (5 May, 3pm).
In truth, McGregor would have sat through a few more suspensions if the officials had been a little more eagle-eyed this season. The former Hull goalkeeper is supposed to be a leader of this up-and-coming Rangers side but how much longer can he really be trusted?

And Gerrard will surely be even more keen to lure Daniel Bachmann to Ibrox after McGregor’s Ibrox embarrassment.
The Watford-owned Kilmarnock loanee told the Scottish Sun in April that he had held talks with Rangers about a summer move to Glasgow.
And Bachmann’s position will surely be strengthened with the man he could potentially replace angering Gerrard and casting doubt over his suitability between the sticks.
