Joe Dodoo is in top form in League One for Blackpool but has he secured a future at Glasgow Rangers?

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Scottish Ladbrokes Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on December 5, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers are suffering from something of a striker problem right now.

Alfredo Morelos’s third sending off of the season in midweek left Steven Gerrard without his star man for the disappointing 1-1 draw against Dundee on Sunday, while Kyle Lafferty has not scored a goal since September; a barren run that now stands at nine games.

Joe Dodoo, meanwhile, is in the form of his life.

Dodoo failed to win over Gerrard during pre-season and was loaned out to Blackpool before the summer transfer window shut.

After a slow start to life at Bloomfield Road, he is now emerging as a real star for the Tangerines.

Dodoo scored four times in November and, as a result, has been named Blackpool’s Player of the Month award, earning 50 per cent of the vote to boot, according to the club’s official website.

The former Leicester City youngster also picked up the Goal of the Month award for his brilliant overhead kick against Accrington Stanley.

McPhillips told the Blackpool Gazette recently that he has been blown away by Dodoo’s ‘phenomenal’ displays, which have surely given Gerrard food for thought.

Clearly, the young striker deserves a chance to prove himself all over again at Ibrox.
