Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have been previously linked with Hamilton Academical’s Ali Crawford and now he is a free agent.
Rangers have one last chance to sign Ali Crawford this summer.
According to HITC sources, the Gers were interested in the highly-rated Hamilton midfielder during the final days of Mark Warburton’s reign. And Crawford is now a free agent having brought an end to eight years in the Accies’ first-team when his contract expired at the end of the season.
According to the Scottish Sun, Blackpool, Hibernian and Dundee are all interested in picking up one of the Scottish Premiership’s most gifted attacking midfielders for absolutely nothing. But are Rangers missing a trick not making one last ditch attempt to lure the 26-year-old to Ibrox?
The centre of midfield might be one of the strongest areas of Rangers’ squad with Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria arriving to provide competition for Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Jason Holt and co.
But barring Josh Windass – Rangers’ joint top scorer last season with 18 – Rangers do not really have a natural goal-scoring midfielder like Crawford. Yes, the former Hamilton ace netted just three times last season but his campaign was interrupted by injuries.
Crawford reached double figures in both 2014/15 and 2016/17 and would surely be even more of an attacking threat with better players around him. Crawford could give Rangers something different and, given that he would cost absolutely nothing, he is surely worth considering.
