Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in the 22-year-old.

It looks more likely than ever now that Rangers will sign a winger to replace Jamie Murphy this summer.

The Scot has been ruled out for the entire season with injury and although Gerrard has recently been coy about adding another wide option, he clearly does want one.

Rangers have been linked to at least four wingers – Nathan Dyer, Jordan Jones, Rolando Aarons and Eros Grezda – over the past 24 hours and it’ll be a big surprise if one doesn’t join.

According to The Mirror, the Gers want Newcastle United talent Aarons on loan, and if Gerrard makes him the winger of choice then he might just have the edge over other interested parties.

Hull City and AEK Athens are the other two clubs reported to be in the chase, but Aarons, on £14,000 per week at Newcastle [Spotrac] has already tried and failed to succeed abroad, after joining Hellas Verona on a half-season loan in January, and he may not be up for another attempt.

Interestingly, he snubbed Hull [Hull Daily Mail] in January in favour of joining the Italian side. Not much has changed at the Tigers since the 22-year-old rejected them. They’re still managed by Nigel Adkins and they’re still in the Championship.

With that in mind, it seems possible that Rangers represent something new and exciting for Aarons and Gerrard’s side may be favourites.
