The supremely talented Auchenhowie graduate Ross McCrorie currently has a deal at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers until 2019.
It speaks volumes of the impact made by Ross McCrorie in his three months in Rangers’ first-team that the club are already attempting to tie the youngster down to a long-term contract.
According to the Daily Record, Rangers have opened talks to tie the 19-year-old down with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2019.
While there are no suggestions that McCrorie will be leaving Ibrox any time soon having progressed from the academy to the first team in recent weeks, Rangers will know that he will start to command a great deal of attention from elsewhere if he continues to perform at the same high standard.
And, make no mistake, McCrorie has been a revelation since making his first-team bow against Partick Thistle in September.
Former manager Pedro Caixinha famously claimed that he could become one of the greatest defenders in the history of Rangers and Scottish football, as reported by STV – but it’s in central midfield where McCrorie has been standing out of late.
Blessed with supreme positional sense, maturity beyond his years not to mention quality and composure in possession, McCrorie could become the lynchpin of this Rangers side for years to come.
No wonder the supporters are pleased to hear that Rangers are keen to keep him around for the long-term.
