Rangers’ transfer window has been a roaring success so far.

In Joe Aribo, Jake Hastie, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart and George Edmundson, Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen have successfully reinforced the spine of their team while hardly spending a penny.

A series of inspired free transfers and cut-price bargains mean that there are plenty of funds left for a statement signing. And Simon Dele, a title-winning centre-back who played against Chelsea in the Europa League last season, could be the cherry on an already mouth-watering cake.

According to iSport, Rangers are keen to snap up the 27-year-old Ivory Coast international, who has a release clause in his contract worth £1.7 million. He’s a combative and commanding presence who helped Slavia Prague win the Czech league title last season.

Slavia’s president’ Jaroslav Tvrdik, even called him a ‘footballing god’ on Twitter while pleading with the seven-cap international to stay.

And while Deli is hardly a household name, signing a proven winner with European knock-out stage football on his CV at the peak of his powers would only increase the hopes that 2020 is the year when Rangers finally reclaim their place at the top of Scottish football.

There’s a real feel good factor around Ibrox right now – for the most part at least.
