Steven Naismith wanted to leave Norwich City for Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but is heading to Hearts rather than Ibrox.

Steven Naismith is returning to Scotland this month, but not with Rangers.
But according to Edinburgh News, Naismith has now agreed to join Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts on loan until the end of the season after no offer from Rangers was forthcoming.

And it seems that the Ibrox faithful are rather divided about the news that their club has not seized the opportunity to bring a one-time fan favourite back to Glasgow this month.
Sure, Naismith will never be universally popular among the Rangers support for the way he left five-and-a-half years ago, jumping ship after the club were demoted to the fourth tier and joining Everton on a free transfer.
But even at 31, and with just a smattering of first-team appearances under his belt this season, Naismith still has plenty to offer, with his creativity and goal threat attributes that Graeme Murty’s Gers are in no real position to turn down.

Although, in the eyes of some fans, Jason Cummings is the future of Rangers. The 22-year-old signed on loan from Nottingham Forest with an option to buy.
Bringing in Naismith would only be a desperate attempt to hark back to better times.
