Josh Windass’s excellent form for Rangers in February has earned him recognition from the wider Scottish Premiership.

Josh Windass of Rangers scores his sides first goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Josh Windass might still be a divisive figure among Rangers fans, but it is hard to deny that he was in the form of his life in February.

Windass scored seven goals in all competitions for the Gers during a fantastic four-week spell, in which he showed just what an effective goal-scoring threat he can be from central midfield if given the chance to play in his preferred position.

So the 24-year-old was definitely worthy of the SPFA’s Player of the Month award. He has become the first Rangers player since Kenny Miller in 2015/16 to pick up a monthly gong, and the club’s refusal to sell him during the January transfer window after a number of bids from English sides looks more than justified.

Windass’s seven goals came in just six games in all competitions through February, including a clinically taken hat-trick in a 5-3 win away at Hibernian.

He has been one of the most effective attacking talents in Graeme Murty’s squad since he took over in October and Pedro Caixinha, who frequently failed to get the best out of this enigmatic talent, may be wondering where this sudden burst of has come from.

Although it seems that Windass still has not won over each and every Ibrox match-goer. Then again, what more can he really do?
