Rangers fans have strong words for Niko Krancjar amid retirement talk

The father of Niko Kranjcar admits he could retire when his contract at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers comes to an end.

Niko Kranjcar arrived at Rangers in the summer of 2016 with a wealth of top level experience, 81 international caps and the ability to manoeuvre the ball with class and precision with either foot.

While the Croatian playmaker will remain a cult hero at Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth, he will not be remembered with anything like the same distinction at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

He arrived at Ibrox following a spell at New York Cosmos a year-and-a-half ago but missed most of his debut season with a serious knee injury. These days, he is well down Graeme Murty’s pecking order following the January additions of Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and co.

And Kranjcar’s father, Zlatko, has told the Scottish Sun that the 33-year-old may be tempted to hang up his boots at the end of this season with the pain in his knee not going away.

Kranjcar is out of contract in the summer and, as it stands, it looks very unlikely that Rangers will keep him around for next season.

But with younger, fitter and seemingly hungrier talents since enhancing the Rangers squad, the fans are far from concerned by the potential exit of arguably the biggest name in their team.
