James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos were on top form as Scottish Premiership giants Rangers beat Austrians Rapid Vienna 3-1 at Ibrox.

It was a busy night of football in the Europa League on Thursday night and it could not have gone much better for Rangers.
After Old Firm rivals Celtic were battered 3-1 at Red Bull Salzburg, the other Glasgow giants did Scottish football proud with a fine performance against Rapid Vienna at Ibrox.
Coming back from a Valon Berisha opener at Ibrox, Alfredo Morelos scored twice either side of a James Tavernier penalty as Steven Gerrard’s side made it four points from a possible six in Europe’s second tier club competition.
And both Morelos and Tavernier have both been rewarded with a place in the official UEFA Europa League Team of the Week.
Tavernier produced a captains performance on Thursday, setting up Morelos’ opener before putting his side ahead for the first time from the penalty spot.

And Colombian striker Morelos, who was suspended for the 2-2 draw with Villarreal a fortnight ago, produced arguably his finest performance since joining Rangers from HJK Helsinki in 2017.
Rapid Vienna couldn’t live with Morelos’ pace and power while his two goals were clinically taken. As a result, the 22-year-old has also been nominated for the Player of the Week award alongside AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone, Sporting Lisbon’s Islam Slimani and Leo Jaba of PAOK.
