Scottish Premiership giants Rangers missed the chance to lure Louis Moult to Ibrox before he joined Championship side Preston North End in January.

But, like so many other strikers who have found the net with regularity north of the border, Moult has struggled to make an impact in English football. He hasn’t scored in six appearances, and has been left out of the side since an ineffective display in a 1-0 home defeat to Ipswich Town a fortnight ago.
As such, Moult has already been written off by some Preston supporters. But The Sun reports that Rangers, who failed to lure the 25-year-old to Ibrox during the last two transfer windows, are set to renew their interest and take advantage of his slow start to life at Deepdale.

Moult is not an out-and-out targetman so perhaps Preston are asking a little too much expecting him to replace Jordan Hugill, who joined West Ham for £8 million during the January transfer window.
But he is a proven goalscorer in Scotland, and The Sun points out that his style is far more suited to the game north of the border. He was, after all, the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership when he agreed that move to Preston in December after all, and totalled 38 goals in 84 games across two-and-a-half years at Motherwell.

Rangers know just how good he is too – Moult netted two excellent goals as Motherwell beat The Gers in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals earlier in the campaign.
So if the opportunity arises to sign a player Rangers fans were so disappointed to miss out on just three months ago, the Glasgow giants shouldn’t think twice.
