Turkish Super Lig runners-up Fenerbahce reportedly made a bid to sign Alfredo Morelos from Glasgow Rangers in July.

Rangers can breathe just that little bit easier with a fortnight to go until the transfer window shuts across Europe.
Alfredo Morelos was linked relentlessly with a move to China in the winter and it has been Turkey in the summer. Fenerbahce have perhaps been the club most heavily tipped to sign the Colombian striker, with Sporx claiming in July that they had made a bid of £2.6 million.
It seemed that sporting director Damien Comolli had made the Rangers striker his top target, travelling to Glasgow to try to get a deal across the line.
Rangers stood firm however and rejected Fener’s offer, according to Turkish Football. And their hopes of keeping Morelos for another season now look much better.
Because Leicester City have decided to send their £30 million striker Islam Slimani to Istanbul instead. The Algerian targetman has joined Fenerbahce on a season-long loan after a disappointing loan spell at Newcastle United.

Slimani looks like the strong and physical centre-forward that the 2017/18 Super Lig runners-up wanted, so it seems unlikely now that they will press ahead with a move for Morelos.
The biggest concern for Steven Gerrard now will be coaxing some consistency out of a gifted yet maddening striker.
