Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are targeting two prolific strikers, Oli McBurnie of Swansea City and Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott.

Steven Gerrard wanted assurances about the transfer budget he would have at Rangers before embarking on his first managerial job at Ibrox.
And the early signs are that Rangers chairman Dave King, who has been criticised heavily be supporters for a perceived lack of investment and ambition, is indeed willing to back Gerrard in his first transfer window as a coach.
Sky Sports stated last week that Rangers had been scouting Jack Marriott, the 23-year-old Peterborough United striker who scored 33 goals in all competitions and is the most prolific forward in all of the Football League. The Mail state that Marriott is valued at around £5 million, which would make him Rangers’ most expensive signing in 13 years.

This came just a few days before The Sun stated that Rangers have offered £4 million to sign the boyhood Gers fan Oli McBurnie from Swansea City. The 21-year-old Swansea City ace, a full Scotland international, scored nine times during a short-term loan spell at Barnsley in 2018.
The last time Rangers paid £4 million for a player was back in 2010, when Nikica Jelavic arrived from Rapid Vienna.

So even though there is a lot to do before Rangers can celebrate either signing with plenty of other clubs keen on the goalscoring duo, the fact that the club is targeting big-money deals for two of the most promising young strikers in English football is a very promising sign.
King appears to be giving the fans, not to mention Gerrard, what they want.
