Idrissa Sylla looks to have played his last game for Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, with Steve McClaren said preferring other options.
Two-and-a-half years after joining Queens Park Rangers from Anderlecht for £1.5 million (West London Sport), it seems that Idrissa Sylla’s time at Loftus Road is coming to an end.
The Guinean striker has been something of a bright spark for QPR since the start of the 2016/17 season, but his stock has fallen since Steve McClaren took over as manager in the summer.
Sylla has made just three Championship appearances all season, the most recent coming against Bristol City in August. He now finds himself behind summer signings Nakhi Wells and Tomer Hemed – not to mention giant centre-forward Matt Smith – in the pecking order. And West London Sport claims that QPR have told Sylla that he is free to leave in January.
Sky Sports (live blog, 24 August) had claimed that Blackburn Rovers were keen to sign the 27-year-old towards the end of the summer transfer window and, if Tony Mowbray is still keen, now may be his chance to make a move.
But with Danny Graham and Bradley Dack scoring goals and with Ben Brereton starting to make an impact at Ewood Park, there is no obvious place for Sylla at Blackburn either.
