Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have a decision to make as Premier League newcomers Fulham reportedly bid for Dedryck Boyata.
It might seem a harsh criticism of a side who won the league title by nine points and boasted comfortably the best defensive record in the division but Celtic’s backline resembled something of a week spot at times last season.
The January recruits Marvin Compper and Jack Hendry failed to make the expected impression while Jozo Simunovic struggled to recapture the excellent form of his stellar 2016/17 campaign. This perhaps explains why Celtic are desperately attempting to tie Dedryck Boyata down to a new contract, according to the Daily Record.
As it stands, Boyata has just one year left on his current deal and would therefore be a free agent at the end of next season. His future is very much up in the air and even his most ardent supporters would struggle to argue against selling him now if Fulham really are offering a massive £9 million.
According to the Times, that is how much the Premier League newcomers have bid for the World Cup semi-finalist. So should Celtic cash in on arguably their best defender now or keep him and let him leave on a free?
Well, in the eyes of many Celtic fans, it seems £9 million is simply too good to turn down.
