Marcus Rashford has still impressed for the most part this season, but Don Hutchison feels he will struggle to reach his potential under the Portuguese.

Jose Mourinho is in danger of ‘ruining’ young striker Marcus Rashford, pundit Don Hutchison has argued on Twitter.

The 19-year-old exploded onto the scene when an injury-crisis forced the hand of Louis Van Gaal earlier in the year, the teenage phenomenon netting twice in an unforgettable debut against Midtjylland in the Europa League.

Rashford has since enjoyed a whirlwind 2016, encompassing two goals on his Premier League bow against Arsenal, a winner in the Manchester derby and a well-taken strike in his first appearance at international level in a friendly versus Australia.

However, one of the most natural-born forwards to emerge from a British-based academy in recent memory has been shunted out wide for the most part in the early stages of Mourinho’s reign, restricting Rashford’s ability to demonstrate his innate goalscoring ability, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney and even Anthony Martial continue to plod unsuccessfully in the central roles.

And Hutchison has gone as far as to suggest that the former Real Madrid manager is destroying the potential of the prodigious youngster – and it seems not many fans are jumping at the chance to back up the under-fire Mourinho.
