Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers were linked with signing Goncalo Guedes from Ligue 1 champions PSG in June.
Back at the start of June, Wolverhampton Wanderers were linked with one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe.
Get French Football News reported that Paris Saint-Germain had identified Goncalo Guedes as one of the players they could sell this summer, as the Ligue 1 giants aim to avoid falling foul of Financial Fair Play sanctions.
The Portuguese starlet is valued at £39 million and it was understood that PSG were hoping Wolves would make a move. And a big-money switch to Molinuex, while thrilling, would be far from surprising.
After all, Wolves have seven Portuguese players in there squad, including World Cup stars Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho. Furthermore, Guedes’ agent is, you guessed it, Jorge Mendes.
So reports from Cadena Ser that PSG have come to an agreement in principle to sell the 21-year-old to an unnamed Premier League club will be of interest to Molineux match-goers. But, if Wolves are indeed the club in question, that does not necessarily mean Guedes is on his way to England.
Because Cadena Ser adds that the former Benfica winger has his heart set on a return to Valencia, whom he played for on loan last season, scoring five and assisting nine La Liga goals. Guedes is allegedly refusing to leave for any club other than the Mestalla giants.
So, if it is Wolves who are hoping to bring Guedes to England, they might be fighting a losing battle.
